This ultra-high vacuum chamber, photographed open, is used to grow and characterize magnetic nanostructures. The sample is placed in the center of the line of sight, and the four conic poles of a quadrupole magnet create a magnetic field at that location. The system was custom designed by PhD students and built with help from the IPHYS mechanical workshop. Laboratory of Nanostructures at Surfaces, Harald Brune.
